Tavern Joins Equity in Open Hand Campaign

The New American Shakespeare Tavern logoFor the past four years, Actors' Equity Association has sponsored a fund drive for Atlanta's Open Hand, an organization that, over the course of 25 years, has packaged and delivered more than 20 million meals—over 5,000 per day—to those who cannot provide for themselves, including the chronically ill and homebound seniors.

The Atlanta Shakespeare Company at the New American Shakespeare Tavern is joining in Open Hand's campaign for the 2014 Drive. After the performances of A Christmas Carol, Dec. 11–14, Actors' Equity members will be joining the cast to collect donations in the lobby. Cash, checks, and credit cards are all accepted, and donors may opt to receive a donation letter from Open Hand for tax purposes.

To date, with help from theater patrons, AEA and Atlanta theaters have contributed more than $27,000 to Open Hand. For more information on how Open Hand serves Atlanta, visit openhandatlanta.org.
